Amazonia Expeditions is a traditional family company which hankers after the welfare of the visitors. More than simply serving you, our company aims to have a differential by creating a friendly and informal atmosphere when dealing with visitors, which reflects the casualness and warmth of the Amazonian people.

Faithfull to our twenty years tradition, we organize expeditions of one, two weeks or more , mostly using the Amazon/Rio Negro river systems and its tributaries. However itineraries can be custom designed to suit the clients.Currently the company has the capacity to accommodate 85 passengers in its four vessels. Amazonia Expedition is a family run company with a staff of 20 employees forming the crew of the four boats and support personnel.  

                Amazonia Expeditions is the only company specialized in long duration expeditions and has guided and designed several types of trips. Over the past 20 years Moacir Fortes and his affiliates have guided over 500 river tours with over 10,000 passengers from over several countries. Some clients have been returning with groups for over 15 years. Among the various clients that have been returning with groups are Sir Ghillean Prance (former Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew), Dr. Scott Mori (Curator at the New York Botanical Garden), Dr. Merlin Tuttle (Bat Conservation Intl.), Dr. David Campbell (Grinnel College), Dr. Kik Johnson (Denver Science Museum), Dr. Cynthia Howard (University of Houston Clear Lake), Beatriz Lange-Hitzbleck (Norden Tours, Hamburg Germany), Frank Logan (Rejse Agenterne, Denmark) and Dr. Labbish Chao (University of Amazonas).
